SUMMARY:Webinar: Linking Consumer Duty outcomes to Employee Competence Thursday 17th August 2023
DESCRIPTION:Register now! \nSince the FCA introduced plans for Consumer Duty\, firms and individuals alike have been working hard to ensure they deliver against the new requirements. However\, whilst there has been a lot of work put into implementing the cross-cutting rules\, and the four consumer outcomes\, very little has been said about the “employee” dimension\, other than in respect of the Conduct Rules. \nIf asked\, would your organisation be confident to hand over their Training & Competence records to the regulator? If they asked to see your T & C Regime pre-Consumer Duty and post\, would it really look any different? If asked\, could your firm demonstrate analysis and decisions around appropriate MI to evidence that your T & C scheme supports good consumer outcomes? Would being asked to demonstrate “role relevant” training on conduct rules to staff make you start to feel a little uncomfortable? \nRegardless of whether you might answer Yes/No/Don’t know to any one of those questions\, we think your input and perspective would add value to our debate on the topic\, so the Worksmart team to discuss: \n1. The regulators expectations of your T & C Regime\n2. What analysis and changes have you made to your T & C arrangements in light of Consumer Duty\n3. What does a good T&C regime look like under Consumer Duty?\n4. How you can evidence\, measure\, and monitor the competence of the staff to deliver defined customer outcomes\n5. How can your T&C arrangements support Culture change in your firm\n6. How RegTech can improve your approach to T&C \nTo register for this event please click here

SUMMARY:Webinar: SEAR/IAF – The countdown has begun! Wednesday 9th August 2023
DESCRIPTION:Register now! \nSince the Central Bank of Ireland proposed the introduction of the Senior Executive Accountability Regime and the broader Individual Accountability Framework\, firms and individuals alike have been working hard to assess the changes required and the impact of the new regime on those affected. Due to the type and scale of the changes planned\, this is likely to be one of the most impactful regulatory changes seen in recent years. \nThe recent consultation paper published by the Central Bank has clearly laid out what the new regulatory expectations will be and whilst firms digest both this document and the supporting guidance\, there are still many firms and individuals looking to gain further clarity on how this will impact them. With the clock ticking towards the initial implementation dates\, now is the time to start considering how you and your organisation could benefit from exploring how RegTech can support and streamline your accountability regime. \nWith more experience of SM&CR implementations in the UK than other RegTech supplier\, why not join the Worksmart team as we discuss and debate the challenges that the new regime will bring to firms\, and the lessons learnt from UK organisations who have now been subject to an accountability regime for some years now. \nWhilst some aspects of the newly proposed regime/framework including SEAR\, will initially only apply to certain regulated firms\, others such as new conduct rules for certain individuals and business standards for firms will apply for all regulated firms. We will seek to discuss and debate all areas and engage with the audience for polling\, commentary\, Q & A’s and general observations and experience\, so if you feel that you and your firm could benefit from the vast experience that the Worksmart team have built up in the UK\, then join us for what will be a lively and open discussion. \nTo register for this event please click here

SUMMARY:Consumer Duty – Learning Lessons from Consumer Interactions and Feedback
DESCRIPTION:With only a few months before the new Consumer Duty becomes a reality for most firms\, preparations should be moving into their final phases. And make no mistake\, this is not ‘just another piece of regulation’ to comply with. It requires firms to take a hard look in the mirror and ask themselves difficult questions about how they operate and treat their customers. And\, for most\, it will require a major uplift in their focus on and treatment of customers. \nThe FCA recently published a review of the implementation plans in firms that have fixed supervision\, and it made very interesting reading. Whilst it noted that preparations are well progressed in many firms\, this was far from \nuniversal. Part of their review focussed on the Data Strategies firms plan to employ for measuring their performance against these new standards. \nThe feedback firms can get from their complaints system provides invaluable evidence for firms on how they are performing against Consumer Duty. \nWe are taking this opportunity to invite Caroline Wells from Quibble\, the specialist consultancy and training firm to join us to share insights from her work on Consumer Duty.   Specifically\, we will be focusing in on the areas of consumer redress\, vulnerable customers and using feedback to help drive the understanding and process improvements demanded by the Duty’s higher standards. \nWe look forward to welcoming you for an interactive 90-minute session discussing and debating how complaints can be instrumental in improving your firm’s response to Consumer Duty. \n  \nTo register for this event please click here https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/9316770797997/WN_7dzx0e5IQUag5iUYCDVMog

SUMMARY:Consumer Duty Through a Training & Competence Lens
DESCRIPTION:Now that the FCA’s plans for the new Consumer Duty have started to sink in\, firms are now getting to grips with what they need to accomplish by July 31st. However\, whilst there is a lot of discussion about the new principle for business\, cross-cutting rules and new conduct rules\, there appears to be very little discussion at this stage about the over-arching role of “employee competence.” \nWould your organisation be confident to hand over their Training & Competence (T&C) records to the regulator? If asked\, could your firm demonstrate the gap analysis and subsequent development plans for each new starter you’ve onboarded in the last few years? Would being asked to demonstrate “role relevant” training on conduct rules to staff make you start to feel a little uncomfortable? \nRegardless of whether you might answer Yes/No/Don’t know to any one of those questions\, we think your input and perspective would add value to our debate on the topic\, so\, join PIMFA and the Worksmart team to discuss: \n\nThe regulators expectations\nThe implications of the new Conduct Rule 6\nWhat does good T&C look like under Consumer Duty?\nHow you can evidence\, measure\, and monitor the competence of the staff to deliver defined customer outcomes\nHow firms can your approach to T&C support Culture change in your firm\nHow RegTech can improve your approach to T&C\n\n  \nThis event will be chaired by PIMFA’s Philip Allen with Worksmart’s Julie Pardy\, Director of Regulation and Nic Dent\, Head of Client Engagement will be the guest speakers\, so register now to join us on this invaluable webinar! \nTo register for this event please click on the following link: https://www.pimfa.co.uk/event/pimfa-webinar-webinar-consumer-duty-through-a-training-and-competence-lens/

SUMMARY:Webinar: SM&CR Virtual Briefing: Tuesday 21st February 2023
DESCRIPTION:On 9 December 2022\, the UK Chancellor of the Exchequer announced a package of reforms to the UK financial services sector\, known as the “Edinburgh Reforms”. The aim of these reforms is to support the government’s ambitions for the UK to be the “world’s most innovative and competitive global financial centre.” There are a total of 30 reform proposals within the Edinburgh Reforms\, a review of SM&CR being one of them. At present\, little has been confirmed as to what the review of the SMCR will include. Although the Call for Evidence looks to seek views on the regime’s “effectiveness\, scope and proportionality”\, and to see how the regime could be reformed and improved. \nDuring this next in our ongoing series of SM&CR briefing webinars\, join regulatory specialist\, Sarah Thwaites\, and Worksmart’s Director of Regulation\, Julie Pardy\, for the latest updates\, industry views and analysis on the short\, medium and long terms impacts of the Edinburgh Reviews as seen through an SM&CR lens… What are the key takeaways and latest guidance on topics like proportionality\, the impact of Consumer Duty\, the FCA’s guidance on non-financial misconduct and their ever-tightening rules on Appointed Representatives. \nMake sure to secure your place early and register to be involved \n  \n

SUMMARY:Consumer Duty – Learning Lessons from Consumer Interactions and Feedback - Postponed
DESCRIPTION:In July\, the FCA confirmed their plans to introduce a new Consumer Duty that will set higher and clearer standards of consumer protection across financial services and require firms to put their customers’ needs first. \nThe FCA regards the Consumer Duty as a shift to an outcomes-focused approach that will provide an opportunity for greater competition\, growth\, and innovation amongst regulated firms. Whilst the initial implementation deadlines are not until July 23 & July 24 (depending on firm type) as this is such an all-encompassing regulatory change programme\, the regulator expects firms to be actively working their implementation plans which should have been signed off by each firm’s board by the 31st October 2022. \nThis regulatory initiative is one of the most sweeping change programmes in more than a decade and as such the move to “outcomes focussed” regulation will be a challenging concept for many to grasp. \nWe are taking this opportunity to invite Caroline Wells and Sarah Lawrence from Quibble the specialist complaints\, consultancy and training firm to join us to share insights from their work on Consumer Duty.   Most specifically we will be focusing in on the areas of consumer redress\, vulnerable customers and using feedback to help drive through communication and process improvements within firms. \nWe look forward to welcoming you for an interactive 90-minute session discussing and debating how you can use the in-coming Consumer Duty to help drive positive improvement in your business. \n

SUMMARY:Webinar: SM&CR Virtual Briefing: Tuesday 11th October 2022
DESCRIPTION:The newly published Consumer Duty (CD) is a topic on everyone’s agenda right now with boards being required to approve their firm’s implementation plans by the end of October 2022. However\, as all-consuming as it might feel\, with proper planning\, ensuring compliance with the new higher standards doesn’t need to be a burden to you or your firm; indeed\, there is significant opportunity for firms to benefit from well-tailored implementation plans and enhanced working practices. \nThe FCA have clearly stated that the aim for introducing the new Consumer Duty is to drive a fundamental shift in industry mindset\, but what does this really mean and what part does each individual\, regardless of their role and status within an organisation\, have to play in this? With this in mind we are once again delighted to be joined by Marian Bloodworth\, Employment Law Partner in the FS Employment Team at Deloitte Legal\, for another lively discussion\, update and debate on these issues and considerations\, including the key implications of Consumer Duty on the individual and from a HR perspective. \nAnd a good place to start down the path of an appropriate and successful implementation plan is with a review of the basics of managing\, deploying and evidencing governance\, accountabilities and competence. The regulator certainly plan to continue to supervise firms against personal accountabilities\, conduct and culture. So documentation\, evidence\, communication and reliable and accurate data is therefore obviously key for all firms. Those who choose to be less tech enabled and continue with a reliance on compromised systems and controls risk becoming increasingly out of step in the months and years to come. This webinar will also help you benchmark your firm against the systems and controls deployed within other organisations and understand more about why the latest RegTech offers so much value and opportunity. \nTo register for this free event\, click here  \n

SUMMARY:Consumer Duty – What does this mean for Individuals and Firms?
DESCRIPTION:Following on from the two CP’s published by the FCA on the newly proposed Consumer Duty in 2021\, now that we have the widely anticipated Policy Statement and final rules\, it’s time to consider what this means for L & G Mortgage Club members. \nWith an increased focus on the end consumer and a key consideration being how firms treat their most vulnerable customers\, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has been very clear about what changes they expect from firms through the implementation of its new Consumer Duty. \n“Setting higher standards and putting consumers’ needs first is central to our strategy – and the cornerstone of this is the Duty. We want to see a higher level of consumer protection in retail financial markets\, where firms compete vigorously in consumers’ interests. Firms need to understand their customers’ needs and to have the flexibility to support them with certainty of our expectations\, so they get good outcomes.” PS 22/9 – July 2022\n\nCP 21/13 originally set the scene for us back in the summer of 2021\, laying out the FCA’s thinking\, and CP 21/36 delivered feedback on the initial paper\, whilst also firming up on the regulator’s thinking.  Now with the newly published policy statement PS 22/9\, supported by Finalised Guidance publication FG 22/5\, its time to talk planning\, project planning\, implementation\, MI and much\, much more. \nSo\, join us as we debate what firms and individuals might consider as part of their project planning to deliver the fundamental shift in mindset that the FCA say they are looking for. \nClare Beardmore\, Head of Broker and Propositions at Legal & General Mortgage Club will chair the webinar as part of the discussion. Hosting the webinar is John Somerville\, the Head of Financial Services at the London Institute of Banking & Finance (LIBF)\, joined by Julie Pardy\, Director of Regulation\, and Nic Dent\, Head of Client Engagement at Worksmart Ltd. \nTo register for this event please click here.

SUMMARY:Consumer Duty – Time to put the people perspective under the microscope
DESCRIPTION:Through the recently published policy statement (PS 22/9) and finalised guidance (FG 22/5) the FCA have set out their requirements for the new Consumer Duty. The Duty is set to enhance existing rules with an aim of tackling the harms that the regulator believes exists in retail financial services markets\, but most importantly also their causes. \nWith rising expectations on Senior Managers with the introduction of a new consumer principle\, and a new Conduct Rule for all which by its nature demands a greater level of expectation across all employees\, this webinar once again will seek to consider the people perspective now that the final rules are available for discussion. \nWithout competent\, capable\, very well-trained individuals at all levels and across all roles\, firms will fail to effectively implement this new regime.  Obvious\, you might say\, but is it?  With many projects looking to implement technical regulatory change\, the focus tends to be on the detail\, not those that will implement\, manage and live with it on a day-to-day basis. \nIn the second part of our Webinar series\, once again the Worksmart team are going to be joined by guests for this event – Jeff Abbott (2be Development Consultancy /T-C News) and Lynne Hargreaves (Clearstep Consulting) for a lively discussion and a strong focus on the role of the individual in all that the FCA expects.Given the FCA’s responsibility for ensuring consumers are properly protected\, as a sector\, we are all well aware of the constant development of regulatory change that seeks to improve standards in the industry. With more financial decisions now in consumers’ hands and the changing digital landscape\, the FCA have concluded that now is the time to set a higher standard of consumer protection for regulated firms to adhere to. \nTo register for this event please click here.

SUMMARY:Breaking down the new Consumer Duty
DESCRIPTION:The newly proposed Consumer Duty (CD) is a topic on everyone’s agenda at the moment. With an increased focus on the end consumer and a key consideration being how firms treat their most vulnerable customers\, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has clearly laid out its expectation in not one\, but two consultation papers on this particular topic. \nCP 21/13 set the scene\, laying out the FCA’s thinking and asking for views from regulated firms and CP 21/36 delivered feedback on the initial paper\, whilst also delivering more focused thinking from the FCA on what the new CD would bring to firms and individuals alike. With the Policy Statement likely to hit our desks at some point before the end of July\, this will be the first of a two part series\, where we initially consider the published CPs and discuss what this means from a personal perspective\, with the second part of the series (to be broadcast in Q3) considering the Policy Statement when published. \nThe FCA have clearly stated that the aim for introducing the new Consumer Duty is to drive a fundamental shift in industry mindset\, but what does this really mean and what part does each individual\, regardless of their role and status within an organisation\, have to play in this? We will be considering the new Duty from that personal perspective and what this means for firms and their people processes. \nClare Beardmore\, Head of Broker and Propositions at Legal & General Mortgage Club will chair the webinar as part of the discussion. Hosting the webinar is John Somerville\, the Head of Financial Services at the London Institute of Banking & Finance (LIBF)\, joined by Worksmart’s Julie Pardy\, Director of Regulation\, and Nic Dent\, Head of Customer Engagement \nTo register for this event please click here.

SUMMARY:SM&CR – Is the regime in your organisation delivering what the regulator would expect to see?
DESCRIPTION:SM&CR has been with us as an industry since 2016 now for those in Banking & Insurance and 2018/19 for Solo Regulated firms. How has it been for you? When launched the FCA focused in on four key areas of change that they were expecting the regime to deliver against namely:- \n\nMore effective senior managers\nBetter governance\nImproved cultures\nRemoval of “bad apples”\n\nMany organisations that we talk to share with us their stories of positivity and how SM&CR is delivering the cultural change that the FCA was hoping to achieve. However\, an equivalent number talk about their concerns that whilst the regime is taken seriously in their organisation and teams work hard to deliver against requirements\, they are still not as joined up and data savvy in their approach as they could be. \nIn a famous quote from Warren Buffet – love him or hate him\, he’s not wrong! “Risk comes from not knowing what you are doing.” – Warren Buffet \nFirms are likely to be asked more searching questions and be expected to have the answers from the data that they capture and hold. If you are one of those firms that get asked\, how would that make you feel. Are you in control and clear on the current direction of travel to the FCA are taking\, or do you harbour concerns about how your firm is currently approaching SM&CR and the culture and conduct changes it is expected to drive? Whatever your answer to that question\, there are opportunities for firms to enhance their current approaches in these areas\, and this is something that the Worksmart team and guests will look to discuss and debate. \n“It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it\, if you think about that you may do things differently.” – Warren Buffet \nThe driver for personal accountability and cultural change continues so join the Worksmart team and special guest Philip Allen\, Head of Learning\, PIMFA. \nTo register for this event please click on the following link: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/4316305764573/WN_YIF88BjWQGKZu1o8deslfQ

SUMMARY:Webinar: FCA Business Plan Review 31st May 2022
DESCRIPTION:FCA plan and priorities for 2022/23 \nNow that the FCA’s Business Plan has been issued\, the Worksmart team (and guests) will be discussing and debating the critical regulatory topics for firms to consider in 22/23. Under the leadership of Nikhil Rathi\, CEO\, it is fair to say that the first year of his tenure has not been as smooth as the City might have hoped\, however in this second Business Plan\, it will be interesting to discuss and debate the key business plan topics in conjunction with the 3 year strategy plan that was published in the same week. \nOur guests for this event will be Square 4 – a consulting and resourcing business supporting the regulated community to be compliant and operationally resilient. Their mission is to protect regulated firms and help them grow and thrive – a mission we fully support and look forward to their knowledge and expertise in the regulated space to help us draw out the key areas for firms to consider over the next 12-24 months as they plan their regulatory priorities and line up their resources and budgets. \nWe know from feedback from our past events and broadcasts that firms and individuals gain value and comfort from evaluating their firm’s thinking through group discussion and debate with peers. So\, join the Worksmart team\, our guests and our Chair for this event\, Nic Dent\, for a lively discussion and update on the key regulatory priorities. \nIn the webinar\, we will: \n\nProvide an overview of the latest FCA Business Plan for 22/23 with our thoughts\, reflections and observations\nOutline the six core regulatory activities and the thinking behind the framing of approach\nDebate the three key areas of regulatory approach for the year and the outcomes that they seek\nDiscuss the key regulatory activities that are planned in support of the areas of most concern\nExamine how RegTech can support the achievement of regulatory priorities\n\nTo register for this webinar\, visit: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/8516504643302/WN_OBGhYHlpSQSz-FwvWfeN2w

SUMMARY:Webinar: SM&CR Virtual Briefing: 17th May 2022
DESCRIPTION:SM&CR – not just a cost to your firm but the cornerstone for ensuring ‘conduct\, culture and accountability’. \nNo doubt that over the last 18 months you have heard the FCA talk regularly about becoming a more data led regulator. Nikhil Rathi (CEO) has been driving through a project to ensure that the FCA is specifically focused in this area. \nOnly this month\, Nikhil Rathi and the team published their 3-year strategy together with the Business Plan for 22/23 and it was interesting once again to hear his comments about the regulatory change that he is seeking to achieve. \n“Last year\, I said you would begin to see a different type of FCA. More innovative\, more assertive\, more adaptive. We are being tougher on firms who want authorisation to operate in the UK\, using data more systematically to ask the firms we supervise more rigorous questions and using our enforcement and intervention powers more actively\, pushing the boundaries where we need to.” \nIf firms are likely to be asked more searching questions and be expected to have the answers from the data that they capture and hold\, does this worry you about how your firm is currently approaching SM&CR and the culture and conduct changes it is expected to drive? Whatever your answer to that question\, there are opportunities for firms to enhance their current approaches in these areas\, and this is something that the Worksmart team and guests will look to discuss and debate on this webinar. \nIt is obvious from the comments noted above that the regulator certainly plans to continue to supervise firms against personal accountabilities\, conduct and culture\, so register now to once again join the Worksmart team\, and special guest\, Marian Bloodworth\, Employment Law Partner at Deloitte UK\, for another lively discussion to consider all this and more on SM&CR. \nTo register for this free event\, visit: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/4316305764573/WN_hJUm0ziyQJqf9saralUZug \n

SUMMARY:Webinar: Consumer Duty of Care 28th April 2022
DESCRIPTION:The newly proposed Consumer Duty of Care (CDOC) is a topic on everyone’s agenda at the moment. With an increased focus on the end consumer and a key consideration being how firms treat their most vulnerable customers\, the FCA has clearly laid out its expectation in not one but two consultation papers on this particular topic. Join us for what will be a lively and chatty 1 hour over the lunchtime of Thursday 28th April 2022. \n\nWhat are the key drivers for the new Consumer Duty?\nWhat are the component parts of the new proposed Duty?\nWhat is the impact from an individual perspective?\nWhat can individuals do from a personal perspective to support the incoming regulation?\n\nTo register for this webinar\, visit: https://www.libf.ac.uk/news-and-insights/our-events?eventid=16213

SUMMARY:Webinar: Consumer Duty through a Training & Competence Lens 28th April 2022
DESCRIPTION:Now that the FCA’s plans for the new Consumer Duty have started to sink in\, firms are galvanising their project teams and starting their Gap Analyses. However\, whilst there is a lot of talk and discussion about the new principle for business\, cross cutting rules and new conduct rules\, there appears to be very little discussion at this stage about the over-arching role of “employee competence.” The Worksmart team\, and guests\, want to get the discussion going and hopefully with a bit of lively debate consider the implications of the new Consumer Duty from a wider Training & Competence perspective. With any regulatory initiative the devil is in the detail and whilst we don’t as yet have final policy on the topic\, it seems only right that we should consider this angle. \nWith the FCA focusing in on what firms might consider when assessing the effectiveness of the programme within their organisations\, it was interesting to see the types of data/information that the FCA was suggesting firms could use. Would your organisation be confident to hand over their Training & Competence records to the regulator? If asked\, could your firm demonstrate the gap analysis and subsequent development plans for each new starter you’ve on-boarded in the last few years? Would being asked to demonstrate “role relevant” training on conduct rules to staff make you start to feel a little uncomfortable? \nRegardless of whether you might answer Yes/No/Don’t know to any one of those questions\, we think your input and perspective would add value to our debate on the topic. \nWe know from feedback after our past events and broadcasts that firms and individuals gain value and comfort from evaluating their firm’s thinking through group discussion and debate with peers. So\, join the Worksmart team\, and our guests for this event – Jeff Abbot (T&C News) and Lynne Hargreaves (Clearstep Consulting) for an interesting discussion and focus on the wider competence debate. \n\nWelcome and introduction\nNew Cross Cutting rules\, Business Principle & Conduct Rules\nConsumer Duty – The People Perspective\nOversight & Control – The Demonstration\, Data & MI Challenges\nHow RegTech can support the achievement of arising regulatory priorities\n\nTo register for this webinar\, visit: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/5016494145199/WN_KMBdjORARhSFDRNXS68BpQ \nThis event is no longer available.

SUMMARY:How will Senior Managers rise to the challenge in implementing the new Consumer Duty?
DESCRIPTION:The new Consumer Duty proposed by the FCA will place the responsibilities of a firm to avoid foreseeable customer harm squarely on the shoulders of Senior Managers and board members. There’s no ifs or buts on this as the regulator plans to hold Senior Managers accountable for assessing whether the firm is delivering good outcomes for its’ customers\, consistent with the Consumer Duty. The new Consumer Duty\, whilst currently in consultation\, will likely see the FCA publish feedback and a final policy statement on the matter in the summer of 2022\, with the rules likely to have to be implemented by April 2023 as it stands. It is increasingly a priority item for firms achieving compliance will be a major challenge for most. \n\nPlan effectively for the challenges presented by the new Consumer Principle\, the Four Outcomes and the Cross-Cutting Rules\nAssess how far their existing controls (such as conduct risk frameworks and product governance processes) fair in meeting new expectations\nDischarge their responsibility on an ongoing basis for delivering compliance with the new Consumer Duty\nIdentify poor outcomes and actions taken to address their root causes\nDemonstrate proactive prevention of foreseeable harm via the use of data and solutions and ensure the delivery of good outcomes\n\nWith a new proposed Consumer Duty of Care\, we discuss the links to potentially changing market supervision\, and we think that we’ve got a full agenda of items to discuss and debate. \nDuring the session delegates will be placed into working groups designed to facilitate a discussion with peers on the practical steps that businesses can take to ensure compliance with regulatory expectations. So\, join the Worksmart team\, Elephants Don’t Forget and Shoosmiths\, for a lively discussion and update. \nTo register for this event\, visit:https://info.worksmart.co.uk/consumer-duty-webinar-ws \n\n\n

SUMMARY:Webinar: Duty Calls: Complying with higher standards of consumer protection
DESCRIPTION:A new Consumer Duty to be introduced by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in July requires firms with retail clients to review almost every aspect of the relationship with their consumers. The regulator’s not standing on ceremony; holding senior managers accountable if firms don’t put consumers at the heart of what they do and embed the duty into their organisation’s culture to meet new levels of consumer protection. \nIn this FREE 60-minute webinar\, our own Julie Pardy will be joining the other panellists at this Elephants Don’t Forget hosted event\, including: Jeff Abbott\, editor of T-C News\, Adrian Harvey\, CEO of Elephants Don’t Forget\, and Geoff May\, Associate at Shoosmiths\, to unpack the changes firms will need to make to meet the outcomes the FCA wants to see. \nJoin Julie and the team for this unmissable session as we discuss: \n\nWhat the new duty would mean in practice for your firm and consumers\nThe challenges for Senior Managers and how they evidence good consumer outcomes\nThe key elements of the new consumer duty through a T&C lens\nHow the FCA will enforce the new duty\n\nTo register for this free event\, visit: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_pUV-rA3hT1W6QjvrGRAylA

SUMMARY:Webinar: SM&CR Virtual Briefing: 25th January 2022
DESCRIPTION:The Senior Managers & Certification Regime (SM&CR) has been with us for some time now\, and as a result expectations are changing. The regulatory focus in 2022 continues to be around firms providing assurance around the operational effectiveness of the regime as opposed to achieving initial implementation. \nThe FCA has made it clear that the Senior Manager and Certification Regime should be used as a cultural framework within a firm\, helping to create a culture of accountability rather than ‘tick box’ compliance. If the effectiveness of your regime has not been tested\, how will you assure yourself as to whether what you have implemented is “Fit for Purpose?” \nIt is evident that many businesses have viewed SM&CR through the “cost to the business” lens\, as opposed to the “operational efficiency” lens. Through this event\, we will seek to discuss and debate this approach and how the effective use of RegTech can and will bring both efficiency and more effective risk management within organisations when implemented for change as opposed to “because we have to.” \nWe are honoured to once again be joined by special guest\, Marian Bloodworth\, employment partner in the FS Employment Team at Deloitte Legal\, for another lively discussion and update on the key issues and considerations on this topic\, together with a demonstration of how the Worksmart Accord solution can help you and your organisation manage all of the component parts of the new Regime. \nMeeting Agenda \n• Welcome and introductions \n• A regulatory update – the very latest on SM&CR \n• SM&CR in BAU – embedding and future proofing \n• Demonstration of our SMCR solution – Accord \n• A discussion on the current climate from a HR Regulation \nTo register for this free event\, visit: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/4316305764573/WN_4yyeLJ-bQmG6rx3Uji6ZoQ \nThis event is no longer available.

SUMMARY:Webinar: Technology's Vital Role In Enabling Firms To Meet The FCAs Complaints DISP Rules
DESCRIPTION:It is clear that in these unprecedented times\, with some employees having worked from home for 18 months now\, technology will continue to play a vital role in enabling firms to maintain the level of service that meets the FCAs Complaints DISP rules. A robust\, scalable\, web-based complaints solution will allow firms employees (as some continue to work from home)\, to record\, manage and resolve complaints in a fair and reasonable manner. \nThe technology allows for cases to be linked to specific events (such as Covid-19)\, allowing for consistent handling of the process\, with key learning opportunities identified\, allowing firms to rectify or address short-comings quickly\, where required. Embedded Summary Resolution Communication and Formal Resolution letter quality assurance checks can be undertaken by team leaders and managers\, ensuring their staff maintain a consistent approach to managing these specific case types. Finally\, valuable MI can be obtained\, allowing for businesses to get a true handle on the impact and costs specific complaints have on the business. \nTechnology ensures staff members (with the right equipment) continue to do their jobs effectively\, in these difficult circumstances. Worksmart’s Business Development Manager Anthony Eghan is joining Credit Services Association (CSA)\, to discuss and debate this interesting topic. This webinar will provide CSA members with an overview of how technology can ensure a modern\, robust\, efficient and fit for purpose complaints and feedback management solution\, which places the customer at the heart of the process\, can be utilised. \nTo register for this webinar\, visit: https://bit.ly/30w90Wq

SUMMARY:Webinar: The Future of Regulation Briefing 2021
DESCRIPTION:Regulation\, Data and Tech – How they can work in harmony? \nThe regulatory landscape is changing all of the time. The publication of the Regulatory Initiatives Grid will have brought home to many how ever more complex the regulatory landscape is becoming. As the FCA are developing their plans to become a “Data Led” regulator\, what does this mean for firms\, how might this play out in practice\, and what can firms do to ensure that they are keeping up? \nPolicymakers are currently reviewing the UK’s approach to regulation of financial services to reflect our new position outside the EU and to ensure the regulatory framework is fit for the future. A regulatory regime which fosters innovation and competitiveness as part of the core goal of good customer outcomes will also ensure this contribution will both continue and expand further. \nThis briefing will cover the opportunities that a new architecture for regulating the UK financial services sector will bring. This should enable the industry to support the economy through building consumers’ wealth resilience and ensuring the market is efficient\, internationally competitive and open for business. \nWorksmart’s Director of Regulation & Market Engagement Julie Pardy\, is one of the briefing’s key speakers in this briefing hosted by The Investment Association\, and will discuss primarily this question of how regulation\, data and tech can work in harmony. This event is designed for stakeholders to consider the implications of the future regulatory framework in the UK alongside key policy officials and how changes to the regulatory architecture will evolve now the UK is outside the EU. \nRegister for this webinar\, here

SUMMARY:Webinar: TISA 2nd Annual Culture Conference
DESCRIPTION:A healthy corporate culture is key to facilitate an environment in which employee wellbeing thrives and therefore also critical to a company’s success. The concept of culture has now been widely debated within the financial services industry\, with firms taking measures in order to address all its components especially during the COVID-19 crisis which posed a significant challenge to companies’ cultures. \nHowever\, there is still work that remains to be done especially when it comes to firms creating psychological safety within the workplace so that employees feel safe to share ideas and speak up and promoting ethnic and gender diversity at a senior level in the industry. \nWorksmart’s Director of Regulation and Market Engagement Julie Pardy\, will be joining a host of key speakers at TISA’s second annual culture conference\, where you’ll have the opportunity to hear about the latest regulatory developments and engage with senior industry leaders on why a healthy corporate culture matters and how to create and retain a culture that embodies diversity and inclusion. \nTo register for this webinar\, visit: https://www.tisa.uk.com/product/2nd-annual-culture-conference/
