SUMMARY:Webinar: SM&CR Virtual Briefing: 25th January 2022
DESCRIPTION:The Senior Managers & Certification Regime (SM&CR) has been with us for some time now\, and as a result expectations are changing. The regulatory focus in 2022 continues to be around firms providing assurance around the operational effectiveness of the regime as opposed to achieving initial implementation. \nThe FCA has made it clear that the Senior Manager and Certification Regime should be used as a cultural framework within a firm\, helping to create a culture of accountability rather than ‘tick box’ compliance. If the effectiveness of your regime has not been tested\, how will you assure yourself as to whether what you have implemented is “Fit for Purpose?” \nIt is evident that many businesses have viewed SM&CR through the “cost to the business” lens\, as opposed to the “operational efficiency” lens. Through this event\, we will seek to discuss and debate this approach and how the effective use of RegTech can and will bring both efficiency and more effective risk management within organisations when implemented for change as opposed to “because we have to.” \nWe are honoured to once again be joined by special guest\, Marian Bloodworth\, employment partner in the FS Employment Team at Deloitte Legal\, for another lively discussion and update on the key issues and considerations on this topic\, together with a demonstration of how the Worksmart Accord solution can help you and your organisation manage all of the component parts of the new Regime. \nMeeting Agenda \n• Welcome and introductions \n• A regulatory update – the very latest on SM&CR \n• SM&CR in BAU – embedding and future proofing \n• Demonstration of our SMCR solution – Accord \n• A discussion on the current climate from a HR Regulation \nTo register for this free event\, visit: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/4316305764573/WN_4yyeLJ-bQmG6rx3Uji6ZoQ \nThis event is no longer available.

SUMMARY:Webinar: Technology's Vital Role In Enabling Firms To Meet The FCAs Complaints DISP Rules
DESCRIPTION:It is clear that in these unprecedented times\, with some employees having worked from home for 18 months now\, technology will continue to play a vital role in enabling firms to maintain the level of service that meets the FCAs Complaints DISP rules. A robust\, scalable\, web-based complaints solution will allow firms employees (as some continue to work from home)\, to record\, manage and resolve complaints in a fair and reasonable manner. \nThe technology allows for cases to be linked to specific events (such as Covid-19)\, allowing for consistent handling of the process\, with key learning opportunities identified\, allowing firms to rectify or address short-comings quickly\, where required. Embedded Summary Resolution Communication and Formal Resolution letter quality assurance checks can be undertaken by team leaders and managers\, ensuring their staff maintain a consistent approach to managing these specific case types. Finally\, valuable MI can be obtained\, allowing for businesses to get a true handle on the impact and costs specific complaints have on the business. \nTechnology ensures staff members (with the right equipment) continue to do their jobs effectively\, in these difficult circumstances. Worksmart’s Business Development Manager Anthony Eghan is joining Credit Services Association (CSA)\, to discuss and debate this interesting topic. This webinar will provide CSA members with an overview of how technology can ensure a modern\, robust\, efficient and fit for purpose complaints and feedback management solution\, which places the customer at the heart of the process\, can be utilised. \nTo register for this webinar\, visit: https://bit.ly/30w90Wq

SUMMARY:Webinar: The Future of Regulation Briefing 2021
DESCRIPTION:Regulation\, Data and Tech – How they can work in harmony? \nThe regulatory landscape is changing all of the time. The publication of the Regulatory Initiatives Grid will have brought home to many how ever more complex the regulatory landscape is becoming. As the FCA are developing their plans to become a “Data Led” regulator\, what does this mean for firms\, how might this play out in practice\, and what can firms do to ensure that they are keeping up? \nPolicymakers are currently reviewing the UK’s approach to regulation of financial services to reflect our new position outside the EU and to ensure the regulatory framework is fit for the future. A regulatory regime which fosters innovation and competitiveness as part of the core goal of good customer outcomes will also ensure this contribution will both continue and expand further. \nThis briefing will cover the opportunities that a new architecture for regulating the UK financial services sector will bring. This should enable the industry to support the economy through building consumers’ wealth resilience and ensuring the market is efficient\, internationally competitive and open for business. \nWorksmart’s Director of Regulation & Market Engagement Julie Pardy\, is one of the briefing’s key speakers in this briefing hosted by The Investment Association\, and will discuss primarily this question of how regulation\, data and tech can work in harmony. This event is designed for stakeholders to consider the implications of the future regulatory framework in the UK alongside key policy officials and how changes to the regulatory architecture will evolve now the UK is outside the EU. \nRegister for this webinar\, here

SUMMARY:Webinar: TISA 2nd Annual Culture Conference
DESCRIPTION:A healthy corporate culture is key to facilitate an environment in which employee wellbeing thrives and therefore also critical to a company’s success. The concept of culture has now been widely debated within the financial services industry\, with firms taking measures in order to address all its components especially during the COVID-19 crisis which posed a significant challenge to companies’ cultures. \nHowever\, there is still work that remains to be done especially when it comes to firms creating psychological safety within the workplace so that employees feel safe to share ideas and speak up and promoting ethnic and gender diversity at a senior level in the industry. \nWorksmart’s Director of Regulation and Market Engagement Julie Pardy\, will be joining a host of key speakers at TISA’s second annual culture conference\, where you’ll have the opportunity to hear about the latest regulatory developments and engage with senior industry leaders on why a healthy corporate culture matters and how to create and retain a culture that embodies diversity and inclusion. \nTo register for this webinar\, visit: https://www.tisa.uk.com/product/2nd-annual-culture-conference/

SUMMARY:Webinar: Operational Resilience & Outsourcing: 5th August 2021
DESCRIPTION:Operational resilience has been thrust higher up the regulatory agenda over the last 12/18 months as firms and individuals alike have had to completely re-engineer the way they have operated through the Covid crisis. The financial services regulators have for some time now identified Operational Resilience as a cross-sector issue and it has been a key feature of their Business Plans for 20/21 and 21/22. \nInterestingly the FCA/PRA and the Bank of England have co-ordinated their approach to this particular topic which will give people a view of the importance of this topic to all regulators\, by issuing their Policy Statements at the end of Quarter One of 2021. The expectations as laid out in these policy statements are far reaching and shows firms that there is a lot of work to do to ensure that they are ready when the regulatory deadlines come round in 2022 and 2025. It is also not a coincidence that the PRA simultaneously issued its Policy Statement on Outsourcing and Third Party Risk Management. This topical issue is closely interlinked with Operational Resilience as firms are increasingly reliant on third parties when providing services. \nOur aim in hosting this webinar is to provide a high level overview of the finalised operational resilience and outsourcing requirements on firms\, covering the following key areas: \n• Identification of important business services\n• Setting impact tolerances\n• Undertaking mapping and scenario testing exercises\n• Outsourcing and third party risk management \nThe Worksmart team have joined up with Xcina Consulting who are actively advising firms on Operational Resilience and Third Party Risk Management. Our Director of Regulation & Market Engagement – Julie Pardy will be joined by Lindsey Domingo – Senior Director\, Regulatory Compliance at Xcina\, to discuss and debate this interesting topic. \nJoin us on Thursday 5th August at 11.00 am to discuss and debate Operational Resilience. \nTo register for this free event\, visit: https://info.worksmart.co.uk/operational-resilience-and-outsourcing-new-expectations \n

SUMMARY:Webinar: Measuring Organisational Culture: 22nd July 2021
DESCRIPTION:Constant reminders by The FCA on the importance of Culture is challenging leaders of regulated financial firms to move from saying\, “We need to measure Culture“ to asking “What are we doing to measure Culture?” But where and how do firms start measuring Culture effectively in 2021? \nIn this FREE 60 minute webinar\, Julie Pardy\, Director Market Engagement\, Worksmart and Adrian Harvey\, CEO of Elephants don’t forget demonstrate how firms can use the key insights from the PRA recently published report on ‘Organisational Culture and Bank risk’ to start measuring organisational Culture in your firm. \nThis webinar specifically looks at: \n• Why Conduct and Culture is still a key priority for the regulator in 2021\n• The six data measures The PRA (Bank of England) collect to measure Culture and Risk in Banking\n• Why employee sentiment surveys have a significant shortcoming in measuring Culture according to the PRA \nTo register for this free event\, visit: https://info.elephantsdontforget.com/webinar-registration-measuring-culture-help-is-here \nThis event is no longer available.

DESCRIPTION:The Senior Managers & Certification Regime (SM&CR) has been with us for some time now\, and as a result expectations are changing.  The regulatory focus will be around firms providing assurance around the operational effectiveness of the regime as opposed to achieving initial implementation. \nFor instance\, would you be confident if either the FCA or indeed Internal Audit were to undertake a review on the effectiveness of your approach?  The FCA has made it clear that the Senior Manager and Certification Regime should be used as a cultural framework within a firm\, helping to create a culture of accountability rather than ‘tickbox’ compliance.  If the effectiveness of your regime has not been tested\, how have you assured yourself as to whether what you have undertaken is “Fit for Purpose?” \nIt is evident that many businesses have viewed SM&CR through the “cost to the business” lens\, as opposed to the “operational efficiency” lens.  Through this event\, we will seek to discuss and debate this approach and how the effective use of RegTech can and will bring both efficiency and more effective risk management within organisations when implemented for change as opposed to “because we have to.” \nWe know from feedback after our past events and broadcasts that firms and individuals gain value and comfort from evaluating their firm’s continuing approach to SM&CR through group discussion and debate with peers. So\, join the Worksmart team\, and special guest\, Marian Bloodworth\, employment partner in the FS Employment Team at Deloitte Legal\, for another lively discussion and update on the key issues and considerations on this topic\, together with a demonstration of how the Worksmart Accord solution can help you and your organisation manage all of the component parts of the new Regime. \nMeeting Agenda \n• Welcome and introductions\n• A regulatory update – the very latest on SM&CR:\n• SM&CR in BAU – embedding and future proofing\n• A discussion on the current climate from a HR and Regulatory perspective\n• Accord demonstration – how can the latest RegTech help?\n• Panel Discussion – your chance to submit questions for debate and discussion \nTo register for this free event\, visit: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/1716244569332/WN_vfx0BRLJRKiSrJFJIiREYQ \nThis event is no longer available.

SUMMARY:Have You Transitioned Your SM&CR Certification?
DESCRIPTION:SM&CR has been part of the regulatory landscape for Banking & Insurance for 5 years now and much less so for FCA solo regulated firms. But even some banks and insurance firms remain uncertain around how best to align the requirements within their organisations and evidence suggest that remains the case for many solo regulated firms too. \nNow that FCA solo regulated firms have passed the deadlines for both Directory Submissions and the first round of internal Certifications\, focus should be shifting to embedding the regime and completing the transition of SM&CR requirements into “Business as Usual.” From experience\, the team at Worksmart know this can be challenging; a good proportion of firms found that they were either extremely stretched by the March 21 deadlines\, or in some cases unable to complete those tasks within the set time limits. \nThat haste to meet the deadlines resulted in last minute decisions\, compromises\, and work arounds; many organisations having implemented short term solutions that will probably not pass the test of time in terms of efficiency\, reliability or sustainability. So there remains work to be done. But if this sounds like you\, you are not alone\, there is help available\, guidance to be realised and existing tools and approaches to help ease the burden. \nNow is the time for those responsible for SM&CR management within firms to consider how the initial round of Certification & Directory reporting went and re-consider the on-going resourcing requirements of the regime and the sustainability of systems and controls for the long term. \nSo\, what exactly does good look like and what does the transition to BAU entail? \nJoin our Chair\, Philip Allen\, as he puts these questions and challenges to Worksmart’s Julie Pardy\, Director of Regulation and Market Engagement\, and Nic Dent\, Propositions & Customer Engagement Principal. This one-hour interactive webinar will consider\, through discussion\, live polling and debate\, the following areas: \n• Benchmarking – what are other firms doing and what does good looks like?\n• Has SM&CR delivered the expected improvements? – the regulators view and the view of the industry.\n• How assured are you about the effectiveness of your assessment processes?\n• How confident are you in managing the on-going requirements for Conduct Rules training?\n• Are your processes\, systems and controls\, sustainable? – the lessons learned from the Banking & Insurance sectors. \nTo register for this webinar\, visit: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/8716239477494/WN_1kwEhTRUTKqII18areAuJA \nThis event is no longer available.

SUMMARY:Webinar: Transitioning SM&CR into Business as Usual: 7th July 2021
DESCRIPTION:SM&CR has been part of the regulatory landscape for Banking & Insurance for 5 years now\, and whilst its much less than that for FCA solo regulated firms\, there is still uncertainty around how best to align the requirements within firms. \nNow that FCA solo regulated firms have passed the deadlines for both Directory Submissions and the 1st ever round of internal Certifications\, many firms after having taken a welcome breather are now completing the transition of SM&CR requirements into “Business as Usual.” Easy to say it\, but much more difficult to do it. So\, what exactly should the transition entail and what might this look like? \nWith SM&CR one size certainly does not fit all and many firms found that they were either extremely stretched by the March 21 deadlines\, or in some cases were unable to meet them.\nThis resulted in last minute decisions for some\, with short term solutions enacted that will not pass the test of time. \nNow is the time for those responsible for SM&CR management within firms to consider how the initial round of Certification & Directory reporting went and thinking ahead around the on-going resourcing requirements of the regime. \nChairing this event is John Somerville\, Head of Financial Services\, Professional Education at LIBF and he is joined by Worksmart’s Julie Pardy\, Director of Regulation and Market Engagement\, and Nic Dent\, Propositions & Customer Engagement Principal. This one-hour interactive webinar will consider\, through discussion\, live polling and debate whether firms need to consider further the following areas: \n\nAccountability for the regime at an organisation & departmental level\nHas SM&CR delivered improvements expected?\nDid your year 1 processes for Certification & Directory deliver what was expected?\nHow are you assured around the effectiveness of your assessment processes?\nHow are you managing the on-going requirements for Conduct Rules training?\nAre your processes sustainable?\n\nTo register for this webinar\, visit: https://www.libf.ac.uk/news-and-insights/our-events?eventid=15513

SUMMARY:Webinar: Measuring Culture - What the Bank Of England Research Tells Us
DESCRIPTION:Regulated firms have struggled to measure Culture\, often citing that ‘it’s far too difficult and abstract’ to define and manage effectively. Such reasoning in 2021 won’t wash with regulators\, shareholders and the public expecting senior managers and boards to be much more proactive and transparent in this space. \nIn this FREE webinar\, Worksmart’s Julie Pardy\, Director of Regulation and Market Engagement and Nic Dent Propositions & Client Engagement Manager\, demonstrate how firms can use the key insights from the PRA recently published report on ‘Organisational Culture and Bank Risk’ to start measuring organisational Culture in your firm. \nThis webinar specifically looks at: \n• Why Conduct and Culture is still a key priority for the regulator in 2021\n• The six data measures The PRA (Bank of England) collect to measure Culture and Risk in Banking\n• Why employee sentiment surveys have a significant shortcoming in measuring Culture according to the PRA \nTo register for this webinar\, visit: https://www.pimfa.co.uk/event/pimfa-webinar-cultural-measurement-and-indicators-what-the-bank-of-england-research-tells-us/

SUMMARY:Reducing the administrative burden of SM&CR - CSA Webinar: 19th May
DESCRIPTION:The Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SM&CR) has recently impacted the Credit & Collections industry and it was introduced to ensure that Senior Managers are individually accountable for their business decisions\, their conduct and the competence of those that they manage. Managing the SM&CR regime in business-as-usual (BAU) in a way that a) doesn’t cause a huge administrative overhead and b) demonstrates to the regulator that you are complying to the legislation and maintaining a solid audit trail and record keeping regime to prove it\, will be a challenge\, especially if you do not have the right tools to allow you to effectively do your job. \nThis is where Worksmart come in…… and this webinar with our very own Business Development Manager Anthony Eghan\, will explain how you (Compliance\, HR\, Legal and IT Managers) could be using our 2019\,2020 ACQ Award-winning SM&CR solution to meet the relevant PRA / FCA regulations. \nWorksmart’s SM&CR solution will provide clear central record keeping\, strong corporate governance\, clear accountability and evidence of employee Fitness & Propriety\, certification and conduct rules assessments. Working seamlessly with any existing HR system you may have. Reflecting your organisational culture and routines\, you can also manage many elements of an employee competency regime.  In terms of accountability\, you can ascertain\, who\, when\, what and how\, with everything mapped and audited for the regulator. \nWorksmart have once again teamed up with Credit Services Association\, for this insightful look at how you may address the ongoing administrative challenges of managing the SM&CR now and into the future. \nTo register for this FREE webinar visit: \nhttps://www.brighttalk.com/webcast/9369/484259?utm_source=CreditServicesAssociation&utm_medium=brighttalk&utm_campaign=484259

SUMMARY:Senior Leaders Still Need Development And Here Is How To Tell Them!
DESCRIPTION:Leaders making their way into senior leadership in the financial sector do so because of their unique strengths; expertise\, experience\, drive and resilience. But in today’s uncertainty and complexity\, these strengths are not all particularly useful for navigating unknown contexts not seen before. Experience and expertise aren’t predictors of future and aren’t so helpful in complex situations\, when cause and effect are unclear. \nJonathan Davidson’s (FCA) speech for the 6th Annual Culture and Conduct Forum\, highlights many complex issues requiring attention from leaders – delivering social purpose\, breaking barriers around diversity and inclusion\, and defining the role of financial services in climate change and sustainability. \nIf the criteria by which many leaders were promoted is ill-equipped for today\, how can we deliver the message that they still need developing\, and specifically in sense-making skills? It’s not about loading up on more knowledge. It’s about enabling leaders to move beyond mere knowledge to develop their underlying capacity to make sense of what is happening and of themselves. Using the analogy of a mobile phone\, it is not adding Apps to the phone\, it’s upgrading the operating system\, so leaders are able to think\, relate and act on a par with the complexity they face. \nMDV Consulting has teamed up with Worksmart to help share advice on how to excite leadership in this message of life-long development. \nTo find out more and register for this webinar: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/4316183899846/WN_vs921bXyTJ-7ZJc_346RCw \nThis event is no longer available.

SUMMARY:Webinar: “Regulatory Predictions for the Year Ahead” - 11th February\, 11.00
DESCRIPTION:2020 was a tumultuous year for most of the UK population\, regardless of what sector you worked in. \nWithin the Financial Services Sector\, not only did we go through our first taste of lockdown like the rest of the population\, but had to do so whilst grappling with the implementation of SM&CR\, waiting for new rules in relation to Brexit\, and depending on what sector you were in\, developing new policies and approaches for dealing with all sorts of new regulatory requirements in relation to key workers\, Covid absences and vulnerability to name but a few. \nI am sure we speak for the industry when we all hope that 2020 will not be fully replicated again in 2021. But\, as we all know\, regulation doesn’t sleep and so join the Worksmart team\, together with our guest speaker Tor Connolly\, Senior Regulatory Consultant at Huntswood\, for a lively discussion and debate about our regulatory predictions for the year ahead. \nWhilst we are still finalising the discussion points\, we aim to cover key areas such as SMCR\, the Directory\, Consumer Vulnerability and Complaints Processes. \n  \n\n\n

SUMMARY:Webinar: SM&CR Virtual Breakfast Briefing: 19th January 2021
DESCRIPTION:Solo Regulated Firms have been living with the Senior Managers & Certification Regime (SM&CR) now since December 2019\, and the impact of Covid-19 means the landscape of our professional world continues to change and evolve as we all respond to the impact of the pandemic (“work from home again if you can”!). \nMegan Butler\, FCA\, recently called on firms to rethink the way they supervise staff who are working from home and the FCA has also updated its guidance on Key Workers. The challenge of certifying colleagues for the first time is looming\, the regulator continues to focus on the need for firms to act with integrity\, and those with responsibilities for competency and firms’ governance procedures continue to have heavy workloads. \nJoin the Worksmart team\, and special guest\, Marian Bloodworth\, Employment Law partner in the Financial Services group at Kemp Little\, for another lively discussion and update on the key issues and considerations on this topic\, together with a demonstration of how the Worksmart Accord solution can help you and your organisation manage all of the component parts of the new Regime. \n

SUMMARY:Webinar: “Culture\, Cynefin\, Capacity & Complexity in 2021” - 14th January\, 11.00
DESCRIPTION:Business and regulators recognise that organisations with a purposeful culture deliver better results. In the FCA discussion paper (DP20/1) of March this year\, firm after firm highlighted that defining and developing culture is easier said than done. Culture and culture development is one of those topics that defies simple silver bullet solutions. And\, in a world that gets more complex\, uncertain and volatile by the day\, we can crave simple to just make the complex go away.\n\n\nTo explore this topic we have teamed up with MDV Consulting\, a firm specialising in the assessment and development of leaders. MDV are at the leading edge of understanding how leaders can grow to meet ever increasing complexity. \nJoin us for what will be a very lively and informative debate about a topic that has come even more into focus as the events of 2020 have unfolded. \n\n\n  \n

SUMMARY:SM&CR Virtual Briefing
DESCRIPTION:Solo Regulated Firms have been living with the Senior Managers & Certification Regime (SMCR) now since December 2019\, and the impact of Covid-19 means the landscape of our professional world continues to change and evolve as we all respond to the impact of the pandemic (“work from home again if you can”!). Firms continue to feel the impact in terms of remote working\, communication challenges and the trials of managing people from a distance. \nWe saw recently that Megan Butler called on firms to rethink the way they supervise staff who are working from home and the FCA has also updated its guidance on Key Workers. The challenge of certifying colleagues for the first time is looming\, the regulator continues to focus on the need for firms to act with integrity\, and those with responsibilities for competency and firms’ governance procedures continue to have heavy workloads. We regularly receive feedback that says firms and individuals are gaining some comfort from evaluating their firm’s approach to SM&CR through group discussion and debate with peers. \nSo\, join the Worksmart team\, and special guest\, Marian Bloodworth\, Employment Law partner in the Financial Services group at Kemp Little\, for another lively discussion and update on the key issues and considerations on this topic\, together with a demonstration of how the Worksmart Accord solution can help you and your organisation manage all of the component parts of the new Regime. \nTo register for this FREE webinar\, visit: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/8915947175457/WN_KBQFCc7RS7GN_xMXcOuAJg \nThis event is no longer available.
